Study lesson
Labour is commonly described in four stages. The first stage extends from the onset of true labour to full cervical dilatation. The second stage extends from full dilatation to birth of the baby. The third stage extends from birth of the baby to delivery of the placenta and membranes. The fourth stage is the early postpartum observation period after placental delivery.
